GIRGARRE - Small Town Transformation

Over the past 12 months I have been working with the members of the Girgarre Quilters Guild to produce 5 large wall hangings depicting the past, the present and the future of Girgarre. This huge undertaking has been funded by Regional Arts Victoria's Small towns Transformations project. Initially a series of workshops were held based on colour choices and design elements, fabric painting and different landscape techniques. The local community have been very involved in providing information about the town and have been a wonderful support throughout the time spent working on the quilts. A team of 4 or 5 quilters were assigned to each panel and the quilts are nearing completion. They will be unveiled at 7pm, on Friday the 11th of May, 2018, in the Girgarre Memorial Hall, which will become their permanent home. There is an open invitation for everyone to join us for the unveiling of these magnificent quilts and celebrate the achievements of all that have been involved.

As part of the celebrations in May, there is also a workshop planned for Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th. I will be teaching my new workshop, The Painted Landscape. There is only a limited number of places available.
